Just when we thought we'd had enough boating fun to get the Fall of 2001 kicked off, we headed back northbound, for yet another weekend with the club this time in Daytona Beach. As many of you may recall, we started the Boatoberfest Poker Run last year, as a Poker Run with a theme that essentially thrived on the fanfare of one of Daytona's biggest motorhead weekends BIKETOBERFEST. We made some critical changes to the event this year, changing our Poker Run venue to the City's HALIFAX HARBOR Marina, which proved to be a perfect home-base for the event. The two-day format also worked well, with a Friday Boats & Bikes show at the Marina Bar & Grill, followed by a Saturday Poker Run along the ICW to the historic City of St. Augustine. Can it get any better than that?? Well, now that you mention it...yes. Since this one went so well, we're doing it all over again in April 2002, but next time it's in conjunction with APBA's first race of the season and a big Boating Festival that some keen Daytona-based promoters are launching. It will be nothing short of fantastic..so stay tuned and start planning! |
